WoW Cataclysm – More info revealed!

How about this for hot new WoW Cataclysm info? One of the lead producers of World of Warcraft and one of the key driving forces behind the WoW expansion, WoW Cataclysm, has been giving a lot of interviews since the announcement was made at Blizzcon that there would be a follow-up to the most monetarily succesful game of all time and the game that has changed the face of RPGing, MMOs and computer games in general. His name is J.Allen Brack, and he joined the WoW team at Blizzard in 2005 after working on another popular MMO, Star Wars Galaxies.

Here are some of the facts that he has shared, his insights about WoW and its future and of course what he expects from the coming World of Warcraft expansion, WoW Cataclysm.

WoW Cataclysm – More info revealed!

1) WoW’s shelf life

Many people have questioned the staying power of a juggernaut with the power of WoW. How can it possibly maintain this level of momentum after such a long time? Surely casual players will leave because of the repetitive gameplay? Surely hardcore gamers will leave because they will burn out, never to return? Not so, says Brack. He feels that the game has the potential for not sure one more expansion, but many more – saying that there is the potential for 10 more years of World of Warcraft. He was quick to add, however, that the producers are simply keeping their eye on this next expansion, and are trying to make it as enjoyable as possibly for all gamers and Warcraft players

2) Lore and the WoW novels

The history of Azeroth and the stories that surround all of the Warcraft games are one of the many reasons that gamers keep coming back to WoW over and over again. This lore has been fleshed out by in game vignettes, history written online on the Blizzard site and also in literature published by Vivendi, Blizzard’s parent company. But will this tie-in with novels continue in the future? Yes, says J. Allen Brack. After the recent release of the novel ‘Rise of the Lich King’, Brack points out that the story and lore in that book closely follows that of the upcoming game, and it is likely that this pattern will continue in the future.

3) Achievements – what are their future in WoW?

Achievements are a relatively new feature to WoW, but they have proved hugely popular with both casual and hardcore gamers. Unlocking new achievements and areas on the map is another way for max-level players to enjoy the game, and to give some unexpected benefits and bonuses to others. Brack points out that although Blizzard didn’t invent this particular wheel, they are on the way to perfecting it, and in further expansions of World of Warcraft, achievements will feature heavily and often. Exciting times!

4)WorgenTF? Where did Worgen come from?

The idea of having another race has always been around in the minds of the developers, but Brack pointed out that the Worgen are slightly different. They have always been a mystery in the game itself, usually hanging out with ghosts, demons and ghouls in Darkshire – but now there is another possibility – that Worgen may actually be from another dimension or time. The questline for a player will actually involve becoming a worgen (as opposed to beginning your character as one) and after you have ‘become’ a worgen you will be able to turn between your human and worgen form at will (although it has previously been pointed out that there will be no practical advantage in either form).

5) Levelling speed – are we all too far behind 85?

The idea that there are now 85 levels to climb to get to max can be quite daunting for many. If you start a new character, even with XP boosts and rested bonuses it will still take many days and weeks to level, right? Well…maybe not. Brack mentioned that, just as with previous expansions, there will be a tweaking of the XP system which means that it will be much quicker to clear the lower levels, and it should work out about the same time as when the first game shipped (1-60) when the expansion hits (1-85). We’ll see about that! I can’t wait to Buy WoW Cataclysm and play it over the next couple of years!

Path of the Titans in WoW Cataclysm

WoW Cataclysm Path of the Titans will be the biggest change for top level players in World of Warcraft for years. Why? Because it will completely revamp endgame raiding, PVP and play. What is WoW Cataclysm Path of the Titans? Why is it so important to the World of Warcarft? What have Blizzard said about it so far?

Here’s all the information you need to know about Path of the Titans before the WoW Expansion comes out later this year.

WoW Cataclysm Path of the Titans

As you will have read in our last article WoW Cataclysm Archaeology, there will be a new secondary profession in Azeroth when the new expansion comes out. This profession will allow all players to find and uncover secrets which have been unearthed after the cataclysmic event which has destroyed much of Azeroth.

The glyphs that will be created by players, as well as the discoveries that they will uncover will eventually lead to them beginning a questline which, at level 85 (max level), will mean that every player will be able to customize his player’s history and style more and more. But what are these questlines? They are the Path of the Titans!

Each quest line or Path will lead to a number of quests and tasks for players. These paths the quests in WoW Cataclysm can unlock not only items and rewards, but also changes to your skills and talents. It will be a fully fledged top-level customization process, and everyone will be able to choose to be different. It is Blizzard’s plan that there will be fewer and fewer ‘clone’ builds between the same class in WoW Cataclysm, and more and more individuality and expressionism.

Each of the paths has an interesting name, which I will list here simply for information’s sake. The path of the titans lore will be very interesting to follow, as each path will be linked to a different hero! These heroes are:

Aman’Thul: The High Father , Golganneth: The Thunderer, Eonar: The Lifebinder, , Aggramar: The Avenger, Khaz’Goroth: The Shaper and Norgannon: The Dreamweaver. We can only imagine the different possibilities which each Path of Titans will open for players of Warcraft, and each class and race will be able to analyse and choose their own story related to their strengths, racials and desires.

That’s all the Path of the Titans in WoW Cataclysm info we have right now, but keep checking back (or RSS us) for more info as it comes out!

Wow Cataclysm Archaeology

A whole load of information has just been released about the new profession in WoW Cataclysm – Archaeology (or Archeology as many people are saying!). The new profession is a potential game-changer, as it will add the ability to add glyphs to items which will alter a whole range of facts about World of Warcraft cataclysm – for example:

- Archaeology glyphs will change cooldowns and stats on items
- Gliphs could also alter procs or abilities on items and skills
- There will be four to five glyph slots available to players on release

What does Archeology mean for players of WoW Cataclysm?

- It will affect enchanters – regular players of Warcraft will realise that enchanters are one of the most sought-after and expensive players to be friends with…however now you will be able to improve some of your own items and skills. Will we still need to employ enchanters? Maybe not.

Wow Cataclysm Archaeology

What is the lore behind Archaeology in WoW Cataclysm?

As you probably already know – the new Warcraft expansion has been caused by an enormous, cataclism event which will destroy huge swathes of Azeroth. What happens afterward will leave two things – one, that many artifacts and items will be left underground (to be discovered by our players in the future!)…two, that a huge amount of items and treasure that have previously been buried under Azeroth will now be uncovered to players that pick up the new profession – and the best part is that it’s free!

What do I mean by free? I mean that Archeology will be a secondary profession – what does that mean? It means that EVERYONE will be able to take Archaeology as a profession, and in fact, it will be able to give you access to a wide range of new storylines, quests, talents and abilities through the ‘Path of the Titans’ (but more of that later).

At shipping, World of Warcraft Cataclysm will offer the ability to have four or five glyph slots available to each player – which means there will be a rush on for people to level and train the profession as soon as possible.

This is all of the information that we have right now about the Archeology skill in World of Warcraft Cataklysm – if you have any questions about the different professions or skills in Cataclysm then get in touch with us right now and we’ll try to answer them. It’s an exciting new future ahead! Stay tuned for lots of more Wow Cataclysm Archaeology news in the coming weeks!

Hunter changes in WoW Cataclysm

I’ve been reading about the huge hunter changes in WoW Cataclysm over at www.wow-cataclysm.info, and they are big. They are so big, in fact, that they probably deserve a whole website to themselves just to fit all of the information and comment about them in! But we only have one WoW Cataclysm website, so let’s get down to business. Here’s what we know:

wow cataclysm hunter changes

WoW Cataclysm Hunter changes

- WoW Cataclyms Hunter Mana
Mana has been removed from hunters in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. This news is huge, as it will affect every aspect of the Hunter’s game and also a lot of other things (such as raiding setups and drops).

Hunters will use a new bar called ‘focus’, which will replace their mana pool. Hunter focus in Cataclysm will be similar to a rogue’s energy bar, and will always be renewing itself at a rate of about 6 per second (and with certain hunter talents it will be even faster). This will affect the way that hunters are played in WoW Cataclysm, because they will not be so much of a ‘cooldown’ based class, as a rogue-like focus spending class.

- WoW cataclysm Hunter bullets/arrows/ammunition
Ammunition will finally stop being a consumable in WoW Cataclysm! Finally Hunters will catch a break, and they will no longer need to remember to buy hundreds and thousands of arrows and bullets before each raid / PVP encounter. Gamers across the world will unite in their happiness since now Hunters will never again complain that they have to leave a raid to fetch more ammo!

- WoW Cataclysm Hunter pet changes
There will be big changes surrounding the talents of pets, especially those which affect their abilities etc. This is to ensure that Hunters in WoW Cataclysm and their pets can have a better relationship, maybe even be able to trained in a wider range of talents so that Hunters can choose exactly the type of pet that they want instead of always choosing the same ugly pet just for its talents.

Pets will also have new abilities, in an attempt by Blizzard to increase their intelligence level. Will it work? We’ll see. On the subject of pet intelligence, one of the biggest annoyance factors for hunters in Warcraft has always been AoE (Area of Effect) damage hurting them in raid encounters and from bosses. This will be removed in a forthcoming patch, however pets will still be subject to AoE from PVP damage.

That’s the information we have on the new World of Warcraft expansion. One thing is for sure – Hunter Cataclysm changes will be huge!
